Chicken

Plain boiled chicken for dogs is a good option when they have an upset stomach.

Pork

Pork is a highly digestible protein, packed with amino acids. Pork also may be less likely to cause an allergic reaction in some pets compared to other proteins. However, you should only use lean pork for their meals. And refrain from feeding dogs bacon or processed ham, due to their high salt contents.

Apples provide many important vitamins for dogs, including vitamins A and C. Apples are also a good source of fiber, which can help regulate a dog’s digestion. However, the seeds are a definite no, and considered toxic for your dog.

Banana

Dogs can eat bananas in moderation. They are full of magnesium, which is important for good bone health. Due to their high sugar content, bananas should only be an occasional treat for dogs.

Watermelon

Watermelon has a high water content, so it can help keep dogs hydrated. It is also a good source of vitamins A, C, and B-6. Do remove the seeds and rind, while treating your dog to a crisp, juicy watermelon.

Others

Rice

Cooked, plain rice for dogs can be a good option when their stomach is upset, as it is easy to digest and helps bind stool. However, rice can cause blood sugar levels to rise, so dogs with diabetes should only eat it in small amounts. Also, if your dog is suffering from a skin infection, it is advisable to cut down on the rice during this period, since bacteria and yeast thrives on sugar.

Dairy Products

Dairy products, such as cheese, and plain yoghurt, are safe for dogs to have in small quantities. Cheeses like cottage cheese and mozzarella are lower in fat and sodium making it safer for your dogs as a snack or treat. We suggest avoiding milk, because dogs have low levels of lactase, a digestive enzyme that breaks down the sugars in milk.

Peanut Butter

Unsalted peanut butter with no added sugar or sweeteners is safe for dogs to eat in moderation. It is vital to check that the peanut butter does not contain a sweetener called xylitol, which is highly toxic to dogs.

Peanut butter contains many beneficial elements, including vitamins E and B, niacin, healthful fats, and protein. It’s a fun sticky reward for your dog to down their pills too.
